A Quick Update of What’s New

What’s new in the last week?

David’s been getting out a bit to Hatcher’s and Byron.  Nothing new in Byron at this point, but he’s cleaned about 15-20 new lines to the south of Niffleheim.  The pride and joy is a new boulder called the Circus Boulder with a handful of stellar lines and a couple of projects as well.  He also cleaned a new boulder just north of Fly Right which turned out to have 7 new lines from v1 to v7 and a really nice sharp arete problem just north of it as well.

Will and Drew have been getting out as well.  Drew put up two new lines in the talus above Muffin Man Boulder.  The left problem (Albatrocity-v7) had been previously cleaned, but Drew didn’t think it had been climbed as the top-out wasn’t really cleaned the best way.  The right line is called Vodka Eyeballing-v6.  Drew and Will also hiked out to a new wall back towards the Lane Hut and put up some new problems there.  Drew was pretty convinced these are some of the best problems he’s done in Archangel.  The hardest lines are Mainstream-v9, Wet and Wild -v8, and Chasing Waterfalls-v7. While hiking around out there he also found many other really nice boulders and estimates about 100-150 more problems to be done in the area.

I haven’t been able to do much cleaning, but I did manage to add two new hard lines over the weekend near the Fly Right Boulder.  The first, Leftie-v9, is on the northside of the Fly Right Boulder and is pretty much a really hard pull off the ground then a quick left hand thrutch move to a decent hold.  Not a three star classic, but pretty cool.  The second, Wasabi-v10, was downhill from Fly Right on the Special Sauce Boulder.  It climbs out the overhang from a low start, left hand undercling and right hand good sidepull, via some big tensiony move on slopers.

Sorry to make it so short and sweet.  David and I had written up a nice long report, which due to technical difficulties got erased….
